About Hack the Quake

A massive earthquake has struck Turkiye and Syria, causing widespread devastation and affecting countless lives. In response to this crisis, we are organizing this hackathon to bring together people from different backgrounds and expertise to work together to find sustainable solutions to help those affected by the disaster.

The hackathon is an opportunity for engineers, developers, designers, entrepreneurs, professionals and problem solvers to come together and develop technology-driven solutions that can create a positive impact in the aftermath of this disaster.

Hackathon Roadmap

March 4: Saturday
- Kick off: Event will launch with keynote speakers addressing the challenges and opportunities related to the earthquake disaster response and recovery process.
- Pitching & Feedback: Present your idea and get feedback from fellow participants, experts and mentors.
- Develop your mission model: Refine your ideas to develop a mission model and assumptions about how your solution will meet the needs of their beneficiaries, while also receiving support & feedback from significant mentors.
March 5: Sunday
- Map the ecosystem & mobilize resources
Map your projects’ required resources while also determining and visualizing the complex network of connections of different stakeholders.
- Validate your idea and develop your prototype
Test your idea to determine its viability and potentiality for success.
- Measure the Impact
Understand and quantify the positive effects that your project has on its target audience, stakeholders and the wider community
Development Week

Develop your prototype further and talk to your target beneficiaries while getting mentorship support during the process.
Demoday | March 12: Sunday

Present your final solution in a panel of judges that will evaluate your idea based on its impact, feasibility, and scalability. The top solutions will get further support, networking and recognition to bring their solution to life on the field.

Selection Criteria:

Theme Relevance: Ideas should be directly related to the challenges facing the area hit by the earthquake and should offer practical solutions to address those challenges.
Innovation: Ideas should offer a unique approach to solving the challenges. The approach could be based on existing solutions, but should offer a new added value.
Feasibility: Ideas should be realistic to implement within a reasonable timeframe and with the available resources. This includes consideration of technical, financial, and social feasibility.
Impact: Ideas should have a clear potential impact on the affected communities and should offer measurable and sustainable benefits in the long-term.
Teamwork: While ideas developed by individuals are welcome to apply, it is preferred to apply in teams with a diverse mix of skills, backgrounds and experiences.
