Who Are We?

We are a growing network of 6,000 passionate and active youth who work in 7 regions to serve our communities. Our network is a pillar of Al Sharq Forum, an independent international institution that aims at consolidating the values of communication, dialogue and democracy while contributing to developing long-term strategies to ensure the political development, social justice and economic prosperity of the people of the Al Sharq region and the world. Through Al Sharq Youth Hubs and Programs, we aim to empower committed youth to take informed action and connect them to amplify their impact towards more just, inclusive and beautiful world.

What is Our Cause?

Our world today faces major global challenges that affect all aspects of modern life, from climate change to economic and social inequalities. And yet, our global conversations around these challenges is seemingly more polarised and fractured than ever.

At this critical juncture in history, our network aims at addressing those global challenges through promoting the ideals of an informed-citizenry, multi-stakeholder dialogue and democratic participation while providing a space for the exchange and materialization of ideas that contribute to a better world.

Challenges vary from one region to the next, of course, and this requires an approach based on identifying and pursing the right priorities for each region. Accordingly, Al Sharq Youth Network has identified the following set of key regional areas:

Areas:

MENA, Turkey and South Africa: Political engagement and civic participation, inclusive economic growth and sustainability, social cohesion and reconciliation.
Europe: Political engagement, social cohesion and integration, economic equality and empowerment, geopolitical relations.
South East Asia: Global awareness, community development, youth empowerment and civic participation.

What is A Hub?

The hubs are local communities based in different cities across the world. The active networks are led by respective catalysts ready to share their time and effort to coordinate various local activities and events while benefiting from the network’s regional and international programs.

What Are The Hub Coordinator Responsibilities?

Developing an annual plan for the hub in coordination with the network’s regional coordinator. The plan must include activities tailored to fulfill gaps in the local community and uplift youth in the region.
Leading the execution of plan, this includes leading the activities, initiatives and regular meetings of the hub.
Inspiring and motivating the hub members to engage in the network and encourage them to be initiative takers.
Evaluating and following up the performance of hub members and activities.
Committed Participation in the International Fellowship Program.
Representing the network locally to foster partnerships and collaborations in the region.
Recruiting members according to the recruitment criteria and procedures.
Reporting monthly activities and financial statements.

To Be Eligible For This Opportunity You Must:

Be between the age of 18 – 35.
Be resident in one of the following cities: Amman, Erbil, Baghdad, Doha, Istanbul, Rabat, Tunisia, Algeria, Khartoum, Cape Town, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Sarajevo, Jakarta, Singapore, Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Nagoya,
Owns a valid passport.
Spare time for the hub activities and network programs for the 12-month duration, 15-20 hours monthly.
Have proven commitment to public service and civic engagement.
Be flexible with excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Possess strong leadership and team management skills.
Be an efficient user of Microsoft Office.
Have an excellent command in English Language in order to communicate effectively with the diverse members of the network.

A Proposal for the hub you are applying to lead.
Your proposal must be matching the Al Sharq Youth Universal Values, considering the regional areas of focus mentioned above in “What is Our Cause?” and answers the following questions:

What are the challenges that need to be addressed in your community/city?
How do you think Al-Sharq Youth can contribute to it?
How would you, as a Hub Coordinator, plan projects and activities to part of the solution?
What impact do you see through it?
