Whether it is acknowledged or not, racism has existed in the world for a very long time. Despite historical efforts to eradicate racism post a very atrocious history, it persists in our countries, our cities, our streets, homes, and most importantly in ourselves. In light of recent events around the world that portrayed just how vile racism is and its reality, this program comes to allow youth of today to take the mantle, and attempt to eradicate this problem from within. All change that has ever taken effective impact in society started with the internal change within every individual. This session was an opportunity for self-reflection; self-realization; and self improvement. It aimed to make this time a turning point from racism within, to no racism at all.

Due to the pandemic that took the entire world by surprise and altered the normal living situation, leading most of the population to be cooped up indoors and as a result miss out on usual Eid Festivities, this special program aims to lessen the burden and stress that has accumulated upon individuals and lighten up the eid celebration as part of a community. The event aims for individuals to share in their unique cultural festivities and own styles of celebration in order to uplift morale and create a memorable celebration of Eid.

Hub Launch | Kuala Lumpur

Al Sharq Forum launched its Kuala Lumpur office in Malaysia with the attendance of Wadah Khanfar, President of Al Sharq Forum and Saifuddin Nasution, Malaysian Minister of Domestic Trade, along with 140 leaders and significant Malaysian figures. During his speech, Khanfar stated that the country’s legacy of tolerance, diversity and coexistence serves as an inspiration to Al Sharq Forum whose mission is to develop long-term strategies that ensure the political development, social justice and economic prosperity of the world.

“Olympia Summer Academy” | Kuala Lumpur

Omer Ajdini, Al Sharq Youth Kuala Lumpur Hub member, participated in the “Olympia Summer Academy” that was held in Napflio, Greece as part of the Al Sharq Opportunities Program. Organized by the European International Studies Association (EISA) and the Navarino Network, the event tackled various topics including conflicts, political violence and the post-Ottoman order.

Ramadan Dinner | Kuala Lumpur

In the spirit of Ramadan, Al Sharq Youth Kuala Lumpur Hub members came together with Wadah Khanfar, the president of Al Sharq Forum and Ibrahim Juneidi, the general coordinator of Al Sharq Youth at a special iftar dinner. During this fruitful dinner, the attendees discussed Al Sharq Youth’s future projects and plans in Malaysia.
