Our members, Aişegül Akkoyun and Semih Tekin, won the network’s opportunity to attend the ‘Learning to be a Peacemaker Program’ that has been held in Switzerland. The program, organized by the ‘Initiatives of Change Switzerland’, is tackling the topic of symbiotic European and Islamic identities of young Muslims, in order to understand their important role in bringing communities together. During the event, our members introduced the vision and values of Al Sharq Youth to the participants of the program.

Writing and marketing Workshop | Baghdad
In collaboration with Riyada Organization, Baghdad hub organized a 2-day workshop on writing and marketing projects for international organizations and donors. The intensive workshop resulted in proposals for 6 different projects that shall be executed with the participation of 50 young calibers and organizations representatives.
Cyber Security Awareness Event | Amman
Amman hub organized an introduction and awareness event on Cyber Security with Eng. Ammar Al Majali, a cyber-security specialist and an electronics engineer, in the Jordanian capital. The interactive event tackled a few questions including: Meaning of Cyber Security? What should we learn to enter the Cyber security world? And What is the difference between an InfoSec Specialist and a Hacker?
“Interfaith Youth Dialogue: connecting for a Better Future” | Cape Town
The network held its first regional event this year entitled “Interfaith Youth Dialogue: connecting for a Better Future” in partnership with Amnesty International, in Cape Town, South Africa. The interactive event aimed to be an engaging platform for discussing critical issues facing youth and wider community, in order to learn from other’s experiences, and identify potential solutions.
Apprenticeship Training Workshops | Baghdad
Contributing to their local communities, Baghdad Hub organized apprenticeship training workshops for youth in Iraqi refugee camps. The workshops aim to equip and train the participating youth with new professions for them to aid their families and contribute to their communities.

“Media of brutality and the colorful killing” book discussion |Tunis
In collaboration with the ‘Youth & Skills Association, Bizerta’, Tunis hub organized a discussion session on the book “Media of brutality and the colorful killing” with the attendance of the book author, Anis Akrouti. The book provides an analytical study on the media discourse on the so-called jihadi movements, having “ISIS” as a case study.
Baghdad Youth Football Tournament | Baghdad
Al Sharq Youth Baghdad Hub organized the final game for “Baghdad Youth” charity football tournament in, partnership with Blumont NGO. The tournament that aims to empower local communities, was concluded with an award ceremony for the winners.

Doha Muslim Youth Forum | Qatar
Al Sharq Youth Core team members, Deniz Baran and Rawan Hammoud represented the network in the Doha Muslim Youth Forum that has been held in Doha, Qatar. The 4-days forum that hosted 90 young leaders, is organized by the ICYF and the Qatar Ministry of Sports and Culture, under the framework of “Doha OIC Youth Capital 2019”.
