Al Sharq Youth Sixth International Conference

Al Sharq Youth Sixth International Conference titled “Unleashing Potentials” will take place on 13th and 14th of August 2022, in Istanbul, Türkiye at Pullman Istanbul Hotel.

The International Conference will provide a venue to discuss the unprecedented global risks we face like widespread youth disillusionment, disengagement from public affairs, and inclination towards populist narratives, due to the lack of trust in the existing economic, political, and social structures at a global scale.

The two-day conference will host more that 50 distinguished speakers through a variety of workshops, networking sessions & masterclasses; speakers include:

Kuala Lumpur Summit | December 19

Al Sharq Youth delegates participate in the #KLSummit2019 that is hosted by the Malaysian Government. The 4-day summit taking place in the Malaysian capital, is an international platform that gathers leaders, intellectuals and scholars from around the globe to discuss and exchange ideas about the critical issues involving our region and world.

Markhor 2019 | Pakistan

The network’s core team members, Osman Önügüren & Gökhan Ak represented the network in the Youth Impact annual conference, Markhor 2019. Markhor, that is held on the Himalayas, is Pakistan’s premium wilderness based youth leadership conference that aims to develop social leadership skills amongst youth.

“Interfaith Youth Dialogue: connecting for a Better Future” | Cape Town

The network held its first regional event this year entitled “Interfaith Youth Dialogue: connecting for a Better Future” in partnership with Amnesty International, in Cape Town, South Africa. The interactive event aimed to be an engaging platform for discussing critical issues facing youth and wider community, in order to learn from other’s experiences, and identify potential solutions.

‘Learning to be a Peacemaker Program’ | Switzerland

Our members, Aişegül Akkoyun and Semih Tekin, won the network’s opportunity to attend the ‘Learning to be a Peacemaker Program’ that has been held in Switzerland. The program, organized by the ‘Initiatives of Change Switzerland’, is tackling the topic of symbiotic European and Islamic identities of young Muslims, in order to understand their important role in bringing communities together. During the event, our members introduced the vision and values of Al Sharq Youth to the participants of the program.

Doha Muslim Youth Forum | Qatar

Al Sharq Youth Core team members, Deniz Baran and Rawan Hammoud represented the network in the Doha Muslim Youth Forum that has been held in Doha, Qatar. The 4-days forum that hosted 90 young leaders, is organized by the ICYF and the Qatar Ministry of Sports and Culture, under the framework of “Doha OIC Youth Capital 2019”.

Al Sharq Youth Core Team Member Deniz Baran represented Al Sharq Youth in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum which was held in Russia.

“The Role of Innovation in the Resolution of Humanitarian Crises” Competition | Paris

Paris Hub in association with Volunteers for Humanity NGO held its event “The Role of Innovation in the Resolution of Humanitarian Crises” in Paris, France. The event’s main aim is to be a platform for young people to present their projects and compete to serve their communities. The first prize winner is Muhammad Abu Matar from Gaza, on his project Tashkeel3D, a startup that works on the manufacture of medical tools for suffering and war countries. Abu Matar is to fly to Kuala Lumpur, to pitch his project along with other projects at Al Sharq Youth Fifth
Annual Conference scheduled on the 1st and 2nd of May, 2019.

“The Hackathon on Terrorism Discourse: From Arab Spring to Today” | Istanbul

Al Sharq Youth Network held its 8th Regional Event this year “The Hackathon on Terrorism Discourse: From Arab Spring to Today” in Istanbul, Turkey. The event hosted a number of distinguished speakers including Ahmet Al Burai, Editor at TRT WORLD channel, Yusuf Özhan, Journalist at the same Turkish channel and Dr. Hüseyin Alptekin, lecturer at Istanbul Şehir University & director at SETA research center. The hackathon aimed to collect data on how the media outlets in the MENA Region reflected the terrorism discourse, from the Arab spring until today.

“Alternative Economy Models: Innovation and Social Impact”

To shed light on the power of innovation for social progress, Al Sharq Youth held its 7th Regional Event this year “Alternative Economy Models: Innovation and Social Impact” in Madrid, Spain. The event hosted a number of distinguished speakers who discussed the role of groundbreaking technologies including the Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and FinTech in developing alternative economy models with a special focus on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Agenda.
